About the project
SolarShare is Canberra’s first community-owned solar farm, bringing together local residents to invest in clean energy and share in the benefits. The original website, built in 2018 during the capital-raising phase, needed a complete refresh to reflect the project’s new phase – with the solar farm now fully built, operational and delivering power to the grid.
SolarShare needed a website that would tell their evolving story, provide key information for investors and offer a seamless user experience for the broader community. I provided copywriting and web design services.

The After
How I approached the project
1. Discover
I started by reviewing the existing website content and identifying gaps based on the project’s new operational phase. Research into community energy models and investor expectations helped shape the site’s structure and key messaging. I mapped out the core user journeys – from curious community members to active investors – to guide content priorities and page layouts.
2. Create
I crafted copy that balanced technical information with an accessible, community-driven tone. The language focused on the positive environmental and social impact of the project, while the investor hub provided clear, transparent information on governance, reporting and project performance. Updated statistics and fast facts helped communicate SolarShare’s achievements at a glance. Meanwhile, I designed the site with a clean, modern aesthetic – making it easy to navigate and mobile-friendly.
3. Refine
With feedback from the SolarShare team, I refined both the copy and design to ensure the final site achieved the project goals. The result was a streamlined, engaging website that celebrated the project’s impact while providing clear pathways for users to learn more or access investor information.
‘Strategy and action plan’
“Eliza has been a lifesaver in filling a gap in SolarShare’s communications services. She responds in a very timely way to our communication needs, suggesting an overall strategy and action plan, providing excellent written content, and being very proactive in following up. She is also a lovely person to work with. I have no hesitation in recommending Eliza.”
